Death Toll Rises in Washington Paper Mill Explosion

At least eight are now confirmed dead, and firefighters believe there are three more bodies they have yet to reach, making the crisis the worst industrial disaster in the state’s modern history. The disaster at the mill in Longview, Wash., that took at least two lives was greeted with sadness but not surprise by a community that knew cutbacks and other pressures had raised risks.
